With 60 years combined real estate, corporate and finance experience, founders Asif Rangoonwala and Adnan Shaikh established South Street to provide clients with a platform to co-invest into sectors underpinned by growth, long term demographic trends, stable underlying cashflows and asset management upside.
Asif Rangoonwala is a successful business entrepreneur with interests spanning real estate, food and sport sectors. He is passionate about real estate with over 40 years of global real estate and investment industry experience and expertise.
He is the founder of UK-based Eurobuns Limited, a hugely successful venture in the industrial baking sector, for which he received the Queens Award. The company was sold in May 2008 to Lantmannen Unibake.
Asif is heavily involved in philanthropic activities through the Rangoonwala Foundation established by his late father. As Chairman of the Rangoonwala Foundation, he manages the charity which provides vocational training, medical centres, libraries and other educational and life-enhancing facilities for marginalised communities worldwide. He is also a fellow of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, Trustee of the Whitefield Development Trust, Director of Indus Entrepreneurs UK and Chairman of the World Memon Foundation. Asif is also the Chairman and CEO of Powerboat P1, the marine industry equivalent to Formula 1 Grand Prix Racing.
Adnan Shaikh is the Co-Founder of South Street. Since inception, Adnan has been responsible for the firm’s investment and development activities, which have resulted in the acquisition and management of over £600 million of real estate investments. Adnan leads all strategic business development and global investor relations. Adnan has over 20 years global real estate experience. Adnan is a qualified real estate finance Solicitor and began his career at one of the top five global law firms, Dentons.
Shafia Zahoor is a qualified Accountant with over 25 years finance experience. Shafia is responsible for presenting and reporting accurate, timely information to shareholders, investors and key members of the management team. Shafia has direct responsibility for accounting, finance, forecasting, partnership compliance and financing. Shafia also maintains and processes our portfolio valuation, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations for financial and tax reporting.
Michael Glaser has over 20 years of experience in real estate and has extensive acquisition experience having recently originated and acquired commercial real estate opportunities in the UK for a total value of over £460 million. Michael is responsible for originating, underwriting, modelling and executing UK commercial real estate acquisitions as well as arranging senior debt financing for all acquisitions.
Previously, Michael worked at Moor Park Capital Partners Limited where he was Head of Acquisitions and in the commercial real estate debt teams at Deutsche Bank and Lehman Brothers in London for almost nine years, where he originated over £1 billion of senior debt for commercial property in the UK and Western Europe.
David has worked in commercial operations for over 25 years. Focusing on developing multi-site teams and functional departments to deliver high quality, continually improving efficiencies and services. Much of this time has been in the service and retail sectors but most recently the focus has been on student accommodation. Time with Johnson Service Group and Unite plc have given David the experience to develop strategic and tactical initiatives which drive the delivery of key business objectives. David is responsible for the smooth operation of the student accommodation business and provides operational support to the wider South Street team.
Claire has over 20 years experience in real estate sales and marketing. Claire started her property career with Countrywide plc, one of the UK’s largest property services group and longest established asset management operations. Claire has excellent strategic planning skills and a diverse leadership style which is both flexible and authentic. Claire specialises in both the residential and commercial property markets and is passionate about property and delivering the best outcome for our customers. Claire has built strong relationships focusing on delivering results for investors and working closely with universities on long term partnerships. Claire’s purpose is to bring people and property together and takes pride on providing excellent customer experience through her team and stakeholder relationships.
Sam has a number of years experience in strategic public relations and marketing having worked in the education and student accommodation sectors. Sam has managed all aspects of strategy, public and media relations, community outreach, branding, advertising and events from development to implementation, with a consistent track record of operating strategically to deliver results. Sam has extensive experience in leading digital and offline campaigns. Sam uses her passion for data and analytics to drive our marketing strategy and social engagement.
With over 20 years experience in technology, Paul has managed the technology of a diverse range of businesses in a variety of sectors, from manufacturing to one of the leading insurance brokers in the UK.
Paul partners with all levels of people within South Street to design, plan and deploy complex technology initiatives, implementation strategies, process development and refinement, organisational change management, communications, training programs, disaster recovery and business continuity programs. Paul has experience of managing productive cross-functional teams that can deliver multiple concurrent projects. He has proven ability to drive focused teams to perform within a rapidly changing industry. Paul is a creative problem solver who designs, develops and delivers cost-effective technology solutions. He has extensive experience building new systems, leading implementations and migrating information systems and applications.
